What's Next?

So, you have a great idea for your wall mural design... what's next?  Here is a step-by-step detail of what to expect:

  • Contact me!  If you are local to the Colorado area, I would be pleased to visit your home or office to discuss your decorating needs and various costs in commissioning a mural.  CONTACT ME to discuss your project in more detail.  If you have a photo or magazine clipping idea of what you want, email usually works best since you can attach the image and I can get a better idea of what you're thinking about.   Depending on the size of the job, I am also willing to travel outside the Denver metro area.

  • Next, we will set a timeframe for the work to be done and I put together a contract with the specific terms of the project defined, including a final price.   Before the actual design process begins, I do ask for a design fee equal to 25% of the final project quote.  If you change your mind, this deposit is refundable up to two weeks before the project begins, less an hourly fee of $45/hr associated with the design process up to that point.  Your 25% deposit is applied as a credit to the final project.

  • Once a final design is decided upon, approximately one week to a couple of days before I actually begin the painting of your mural,  I will go to your home or business and take exact measurements of your project, plus I will take into account any special lighting considerations, furniture placement, and other colors or designs that might be enhanced with some alterations to the design.  Also, we will discuss any decisions that need to be made on other factors that may be required such as wall preparation, scaffolds, lighting, etc.  At this time and prior to the actual painting of the mural I do ask for an additional 25% deposit to be paid to help cover the cost of transportation, materials, etc.  This is fully applied to the final contract price.

  • A custom mural can be created on any interior or exterior wall surface.  I use acrylic paints with long lasting coatings to ensure that the unique artwork will endure the elements for years to come. These paints are not harmful to children and can be washed with water and light soap.  In outdoor or in very moist conditions (such as in bathrooms) I prefer to use oils rather than acrylics.  Drying time is longer with oils so there may be a slight upcharge for this type of work.  I realize that many times restaurants and businesses can only have me come in and paint during night-time and after-closing hours... I am happy to accomodate this request!  For residential homes, I do request normal "9 to 5" hours during the day if at all possible.  Also, as some of my paints and thinners can be very messy or even dangerous to small children or pets, I ask that you please keep them out of the room I am working in and don't let them in until the work is fully dried.  Of course, adults are more than welcome to sit and watch their mural unfold before their eyes... this can be a very exciting time!

  • Sometimes clients prefer to have their custom mural finished on canvas or thin fiberboard instead of directly on the walls surface. Accommodations can be made for this request as well. I will paint  the mural on these materials and ship it to any destination.

  • I am dedicated to providing the best service and highest quality artwork. Your satisfaction with the finale results is of utmost importance! I will not finish until you are completely satisfied with the mural.  Clients usually comment on how quickly the work progresses.  My focus is on getting things right, and I work until we are both satisfied with the results.  When the work is complete, the final 75% payment is due and you can sit and enjoy your beautiful new artwork!

By commissioning me to create a mural or painting, you may rest  assured that you have hired a professional, accomplished, master painter and muralist who is able to work effectively in any artistic style and in any pallet.   I have  painted rooms ranging from small bathrooms to large commercial establishments and on every kind of surface imaginable.  Painting is my passion and what I love doing most.
