As a coach, entrepreneur, or online course creator, you have a gift to share with the world. You know your stuff, and you're ready to get out there in the world and teach it! But not everyone is tech savvy. In fact, most of us would rather chew broken glass than learn umpteen million software platforms, build a website, and do all of that back-office stuff to build our online course business.
The Downside of Do-It-Yourself
You've no doubt seen that annoying ad pop up in your Facebook or Instagram feed: "I Made $1 Million Dollars with my Online Store!" (Okay, so maybe a slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean). So, you sign up and they generously offer you a no-fail 'system' and maybe even some courses so you can teach yourself how to do all of that techie work of branding, building your website, and posting ads on social media. More often than not, you will end up taking a few hours of that course and end up pulling your hair out trying to figure it all out... and even more hours dedicated to maintaining websites, clients, and memberships. You may feel stupid, but believe me, you're not! This is tough stuff, gals. It can take years and lots of professional practice to know how to crank out a great video, website, or online course. So, you think to yourself: "I should just hire someone to do all of this." You don't want the learning curve. You don't want to spend endless hours getting all of that tech set up and maintaining it.
The "Hook"?
Most of those so-called free or low-cost courses on how to do it all yourself have one basic goal in mind. They want you to give up so you will end up hiring them. Yep, that's the cold, hard reality of it. Then when you go to hire these folks, you find out they want upwards of several thousands - even TENS of thousands - of dollars to get you all set up. Or, they want you to join their coaching or their Mastermind at that one monthly price (usually way out of reach of the average Joe - or Jane, as the case may be). And video production and editing work? You may as well get a second mortgage on your house if you want to start shelling out all of that dough.
Now That You're Totally Depressed...
Okay, I know I've been a real Debbie Downer here so far, so here's the ray of sunlight you've been looking for. In my years as a professional marketer I realized that FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE EVERYTHING. You can't just crank out mediocre product and expect to make millions in return.
So, what if you don't have the movie budget of a Spielberg or Lucas? If you're just starting out, no doubt you're working on a super skinny budget and just want get your best foot (or at least a toe) forward at a cost that won't break your budget.
That's why I knew that there had to be a better way. A cheaper way. A way where new entrepreneurs could pursue their dreams without their wallets getting sucked dry. But how?
The REAL Bottom Line...
The single most common question I get asked is, "So Rose, it's super cool that you are offering your talents to the world. But how much will it cost me?" I believe in total transparency. I don't know about you, but I hate it when someone ropes me into their course or program only to constantly upsell me, or hit me with a whopper bill late in the game.
The question of cost is all about the size, scope, and time that it takes to get the project done. If I build a simple one-page website, Facebook business page, and put a short three-module lesson online it would cost way less than the 10-page site and 30-module course. Or, if I have to spend 1 hour in post video editing versus 40 hours, big diff.
But I said transparency, right? So, here is a good example of what I usually charge. Keep in mind that my fees are hourly so that's pretty much what drives the cost. At all times I try to keep the cost as low as possible though. That's just how I roll.
Examples:
Fully customized, interactive website with contact form and "About Me" page, plus Social Media pages setup, custom logo, and domain name: $199 (one time fee). Example: click here.
Fully customized e-Commerce store with product uploads and shopping cart, plus Social Media pages setup, custom logo, and domain name: $399 (one time fee). Example: click here.
Course creation with videos: $500.00 - $2,500.00 depending on the scope of the work involved. I also work on other online course platforms too, such as Kajabi, Udemy, etc.
Video Creation and Editing (including creating cartoons, infomercials, slides, and all kinds of cool stuff to make your video really "pop"): $75/hr
Admin work, like: setting up your Facebook ads, posting, creating email lists, sending emails out to the membership, etc: $45/hr
Better yet, I have monthly plans for website maintenance, product updates on your e-commerce store, email campaigns, and so on. All that nasty annoying techy stuff you really don't want to do because you're too busy out there meeting your clients and selling your product. For my monthly discount plans, visit my page here.
That's the skinny, and of course when you contact me with your project you and I will talk about the scope and I will give you an on-the-spot bid right there. No upselling. No surprises.
So, should you hire me to do your tech work for you? That's a question only you can answer. When you have a busted toilet, you usually call a plumber. When you're sick, you usually call a doctor. Yes, you can teach yourself how to do all of that nasty tech stuff but sometimes it's well worth it to call in a pro and PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD... from Day One.
